Who We Help
Simple Smart Home is an independent buying-guide site for people who want useful connected devices without turning the house into a support project. We focus on video doorbells, smart plugs, leak detectors, smart lights, motion chimes, locks, hubs, and starter kits for U.S. households, including older adults and family helpers.
How We Research Products
Our published work is desk research unless a page explicitly says otherwise. We compare available manufacturer specifications, manuals, support documentation, retailer listings, compatibility requirements, and clearly attributable owner-feedback patterns. We then judge the points that change a purchase: wiring or charging, Wi-Fi and hub requirements, app and alert clarity, subscriptions, physical controls, shared access, maintenance, and what happens when the internet or power fails.
A product does not earn a recommendation merely because it has more features. It must fit the article’s stated use case, and the page should explain who should skip it. When a model, capability, or product category cannot be supported honestly, we correct or remove the page.
Updates and Independence
Product names, prices, services, and compatibility can change. Check the current manufacturer page and retailer listing before buying, especially for subscription terms, electrical requirements, and ecosystem support.
Brands do not pay to alter our conclusions. Some links are affiliate links, which may earn us a commission without changing the price paid by the reader. See our editorial policy and disclosure for more detail.
